The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) is a series of enhancement clinics for football skills around the Philippines. Team Azkals players and brothers James and Phil Younghusband who both played for Chelsea FC, one of the largest football clubs in the world, established TYFA in January 2010. Both have UEFA coaching credentials with Phil having a level 2 UEFA coaching badge and James having a level 1 UEFA coaching badge.

Goals
Through its program and initiatives, TYFA hopes to:
1. Acquire more football enthusiasts of all levels who wish to enhance their playing skills through the academy
“The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) is a company we set up to promote football and develop football in the Philippines. It’s what we were taught in Chelsea FC, the beliefs and methods. Developing football in the Philippines is something we want to be involved in when we can no longer play.” – James Younghusband
“When we were in England we play 60-70 games a year and what we observed in the Philippines is that there’s not enough opportunities due to lack of fields, and kids are only playing 10-20 times a year. We want to give the kids more time to play, more exposure to playing football because we believe the more you play whether talented or not talented, the better you become. So we’re trying to make opportunities for these kids as possible.” – Phil Younghusband

2. Generate excitement for and interest in football
“As the goal of promoting football has already been reached by the Azkals, now we try and complement that on the development side by spending more time with the kids, and developing them as good football players and citizens, as well.” – Phil Younghusband
“I think to sustain the interest we need to keep winning, or at least keep our standards high and be up there when it comes to National Team.” – James Younghusband

3. Develop talented Filipino footballers into world-class players
“Football has always been a sport for the Philippine masses. It’s a team sport that promotes a lot of opportunities for success considering the natural physique of the Filipino. It’s a sport perfect for our height, speed and agility.” – Phil Younghusband
“We hope that World Cup players will come from our Academy.” – James Younghusband

4. Become the showcase and premier entity in developing football talent and league management
“Ideally in 10 years time we want training centers everywhere. We want the Younghusband academy to be spread around the Philippines. We’re trying to reach different parts of the Philippines, we train trainors in the north, then we went to Isabela, Lanao del Norte then to Palawan. We’re trying to promote football everywhere as much as we can, and it’s important that we reach everyone.” – Phil Younghusband
